Description

Eiko Maeda’s signature pieces are hand built and based on a tradition founded in Chinese and Japanese ceramics called Nerikomi. To make these various patterns, coloured clay is stacked in a precise manner and sliced through the cross section to form small blocks. These blocks are assembled together to make a pattern sheet. The patterns therefore differ from those created by painting glaze.  The series of bowls are inspired by the spring blossoms of the season.  Hand crafted each piece will slightly vary in colour, pattern, size, and weight.

Care & Use: Please handle with care when washing, as they are made thin to highlight the translucency. These pieces have been tested to make sure they do not stain (even with coffee!) and do not absorb water, as with any other porcelain pieces.

Material: Unglazed porcelain
